Playa del InglésTwo greek restaurants in south

There are not many Greek restaurants in Gran Canaria and 2 of them in the south (owned by the same person) are really great! Greek Taverna (the older one) is in C.C. San Agustin and next one - Greek Village is in Playa del Inglés. Like proper restaurants they open in the evening and they both are very busy, too! These two restaurants are out TOP1 favourite restaurants. For sure order Metaxa dish!

Greek Tavern: See the map, their menu (menu 1menu2) and website
Greek Village: See the map and website.

Mama Mia Italian restaurant

One of the best Italian restaurants in Gran Canaria. Don't miss their wild bore pasta! They're in lower floor in C.C. Yumbo in Playa del Inglés. See the map. Website.

3. Bars, pubs, live music and nightlife

There is a huge list of places to go in Gran Canaria that we have all tested and written about. Getting them now all also here into the website and also have a look at this map.

Best bars in Las Palmas

The Charleston - Live music theatre bar in Las Palmas

One of our favourite venues in Las Palmas Vegueta area. Most of the weeks here is live music from Tuesdays to Saturdays. Nice people, nice atmosphere and good live music. Normally not many tourists go there but if you go you will feel warm hospitality. Bar tender's cat can be sometimes seen on top of the bar, too:) See the map, Facebook page.

Nightlife in Playa del InglésKasbah centrum in Playa del Inglés

C.C. (shopping center) Kasbah is the best place to go for dancing and nightlife in area. Grown into one with C.C. Plaza and Metro it has been become one big area of discoteques, live music venues, pubs, restaurants and shops during the day time. Best place to go there is "Stop in Brazil" where you can enjoy best latino music and dance your breath off. There's also rock bar "Turbo" and spanish music venue "Betuwe". But anybody can find there something for their taste - R'n'B/Dancehall in "China White" and pop disco in many places like Pacha, Fabric, etc but go to "Stop in Brasil" for sure! See the map.

Canarian papasCanarian food

There's loads of local's venues all around the Gran Canaria where you can try delicious local Canarian food. You should for sure try out papas arrugadas that is super tasty small unpeeled potatoes with Canarian red mojo sauce (sometimes green mojo, too). Also try chicken and/or beef stew with chickpeas is available from any local restaurant - it's called "Ropa Vieja" that means "Old Clothes".  Of course you also can't miss local cheese and wine.

Tapas night at Vegueta

On all Thursday evenings there's tapas night in Vegueta area (Las Palmas). You should take part of that gastronomic festival - all restaurants around Vegueta offer wine + tapas for only €2. Now you can find tapas nights in all over the Gran Canaria on Thursday nights but it all started from Vegueta and I would suggest not to miss it over there.

Nightclubs and live music

There's a nice guide of nightlife in Las Palmas. Nightclubs, late night bars, discoteques, etc. Las-palmas-24.com >>
